Where We Work in and Around Columbus

The city of Columbus and four towns beside it: Bexley, Grandview Heights, Upper Arlington and Worthington.

Our service area covers Columbus and nearby Bexley, Grandview Heights, Upper Arlington and Worthington. That takes in a wide spread of buildings: 1800s brick cottages in German Village, postwar ranches in Upper Arlington, and storefronts, offices and restaurants in between. Houses, rentals and small commercial spaces are all part of the work, in every corner of the area.

Every address in the city of Columbus is in our area, whichever neighborhood and ZIP code it has. The four towns beside it are covered in full.

ZIP code not listed? Call (614) 963-3246 and ask. A Columbus mailing address can belong to more than one city, and one call settles it.

Mailing Addresses and City Lines

City lines and mailing addresses do not always match around Columbus, and that mismatch is where most address questions start.

My mail says Columbus. Does that mean the house is in the city?

Not always. The name on the mail follows the ZIP code, and some neighboring cities and townships use Columbus on their mail too. Your property tax bill or the county auditor’s record names the city the house is actually in. If that is Columbus or one of the four towns beside it, you are in our area.

What if a ZIP code crosses a city line?

Some do, so the street address matters more than the ZIP code. Call (614) 963-3246 with the address and ask.

Do you work on rentals and businesses across the whole area?

Yes. Houses, rental properties and small commercial spaces such as shops, offices and restaurants, in Columbus and in each of the four towns beside it.

Is the area any smaller for a small repair?

No. Small repairs are taken on as readily as larger jobs, anywhere in the area. A single dead outlet in Worthington is as welcome as a panel change in German Village.

Permits Come From the City the House Is In

Each of the five cities runs its own building department. A panel change, a new circuit or an EV charger circuit normally needs a permit and an inspection, and they come from the city where the building stands: Bexley for a house in Bexley, Upper Arlington for one in Upper Arlington. A service change also needs the power company to disconnect the old service and reconnect the new one.

The work itself is the same on either side of a city line. What changes is the paperwork and whose inspector signs off, so ask about the permit when you request a quote and the timing is clear from the start.

Older Housing in Upper Arlington, Worthington and Bexley

Three of the towns beside Columbus have housing with habits of its own, from carriage-house garages in Bexley to aluminum-era wiring in some Worthington ranches. Grandview Heights is mostly bungalows and foursquares from the 1910s and 1920s, with the knob-and-tube and two-prong outlets that age can bring.

Send the Address With Your Request

Put the street address in a quote request, or call and ask about it first. Either way, the next step is a conversation about the job.
